Augustus Noble (1823-1915), born in Baltimore, came to Soquel in 1856. He acquired the adobe dwelling and 121 acres around it (now in Capitola) that had belonged to Martina Castro. The small creek running through the land is known today as Noble Creek, following Noble Gulch to Soquel Creek.
