Augustus Noble (1823-1915), born in Baltimore, came to Soquel in 1856. He acquired the adobe dwelling and 121 acres around it (now in Capitola) that had belonged to Martina Castro. The small creek running through the land is known today as Noble Creek, following Noble Gulch to Soquel Creek.

  • According to Riptide (CE31), Noble's parents came to the US from England with fellow actor Junius Brutus Booth. The Booth family is the subject of a 2020 historical novel by Santa Cruz writer Karen Joy Fowler.
