John Adams Baxter (1827-1907), born in Mass., came to California in 1849, and to Watsonville in 1884, where he opened a hardware store on Main Street. Both John and his wife Sarah were Soc. of Pioneers members. Son John W. Baxter inherited the business interests, and has a bio in Martin (p297-98).
