Hugh McNamee (b.1840 in Ireland, Harrison p.303-305) was a Catholic priest who became pastor at Holy Cross church of Santa Cruz ca.1882. McNamee oversaw the 1889 completion of today's church, and the 1891 completion of the memorial triple-arch. Part of that process involved exhuming all of the churchyard burials and reinterring them at a new Holy Cross Cemetery.
