Frederick William Lucas (born 1830, Harrison p.368, Guinn p.686-87), born in Massachusetts, came to California in 1849, and to Santa Cruz County in the early 1870s. In 1892 he had been employed for five years as a clerk by the Grover Bros. timber/lumber company, and was elected Santa Cruz City Clerk in 1878, serving one term.

Wife Mary Ann (Sylvester) Lucas was also a Soc. of Pioneers member.
