Holy Cross church

Holy Cross is the English translation of Santa Cruz, and became the name of the Roman Catholic parish which began as Mission Santa Cruz in 1857 (or before) when a new church was built to replace the crumbling adobe chapel. The present church was built in 1891. Also part of the parish is Holy Cross School. The separate Holy Cross High School, on High Street, closed in ____.
