Frank L. Heath (1857-1921) came to Santa Cruz as a child, with his parents Lucien and Julia. His brother, Charles Heath, became a successful merchant. Frank had artistic talent, and became one of the town's best-known oil painters. His wife Lillian (1864-1961) was also a talented artist, married Frank in 1897, and outlived him by over 50 years. She died in 1961, shortly after her 97th birthday. The couple were instrumental in founding the Santa Cruz Art League in 1919 (the Art League still exists).
