George Chappel (1817-1856; aka "Chappell", "Chapell", "Chapel") is noted by Rowland as a trapper who came to Branciforte in 1838 (info probably from Bancroft). The 1866 Santa Cruz map "A" listed "heirs of Chapell" as owners of a lot in "Block 1" (Mission Hill).
