John Douglas Bagnall (1824-1907) was a carpenter and millwright who came to California in 1849. Chase says that he built a building on Mission Street in Santa Cruz in the 1850s. He later moved to a farm outside Watsonville, where he died. A number of his descendants are also buried in Watsonville's Pioneer Cemetery.
