James Joseph Malcolm (1859-1910, Harrison p.284), born in San Jose, moved to the Corralitos area with his parents at age five. His parents had migrated overland from Delaware in 1853. James worked with his father in horse trading, and in the lumber business for the Dougherty brothers. After an unsuccessful 1890 campaign for election as constable, he was appointed to the Watsonville police force.
