Charles Ivan Kaye (1838-1914), born in England, was a Santa Cruz designer-builder from the 1870s into the early 1900s. Kaye worked alone and with a number of different partners, including Edward Van Cleek. According to Chase, Kaye drew plans for the 1877 Santa Cruz Hotel building on Cedar Street, which remains in 2023.

Riptide CE35 profiles Henry S. Hill as the first husband of Mary H. Uhden, who as a widow married Kaye.
