Galoot Club

The Galoot Club (Harrison p.375-76) was an informal group of prominent Watsonville men during the later years of the 1800s, and perhaps somewhat beyond. Harrison included a mock-serious discussion of the group's origins in his 1892 history, noting that the group met in "Tom Cooper's store", and that other members (most identified only by last names - first names added here in parentheses) included (Lucius) Holbrook, (Edward) Martin, (Daniel) Tuttle (and/or Daniel's brother Owen), (Julius) Lee, (James) Hopkins, (John B.) Brown, (William H.) Courtright, Zollein (not identified), (John D.) Bagnall, (Otto) Stoesser, "Sid" Menasco, and "various members of the Peckham family".

The group's primary activities were described as discussion and dominoes.
