Cardiff, George

George Cardiff (1872-1966) and his wife Violet were the last Cowell Ranch employees to live in the 1864 ranch house, in the 1950s. Now a UCSC facility, the well-preserved former residence is known as Cardiff House.

• Santa Cruz County (1896 book), has a photograph of "Bonner Stables", sporting a sign saying that the "Cardiff Brothers" were the proprietors. It's not yet known what (if any) relationship these brothers may have had to George Cardiff. The earlier business by that name was bought by A. P. Swanton, and presumably burned along with the Swanton House hotel in 1887.
