The Pacheco family were Californios, some of whom lived in what is now Santa Cruz County. Barthelomo Pacheco was among the first godfathers at baptisms of Mission Santa Cruz neophytes. Romualdo Pacheco was the 12th governor of California. Pacheco Avenue in the Eastside neighborhood was named for the family.
