David Norris (d.1884) came to California in 1847 with Stevenson's New York Volunteers, to fight in the Mexican-American War. Like John Dreher, Frank Ball, (and others including Stevenson himself), Ball stayed in California after the war, and ended up in Santa Cruz (presumably before 1850). It's not known (yet) when Norris moved to Alameda County.
