The McEwen brothers, John H. and Daniel A. (1848-1911, Harrison p.367), natives of Canada, came to Watsonville in 1876 and 1881, respectively. John had been a schoolteacher, but after Daniel arrived the brothers established "Mansion Livery Stables", under the hotel now known as Mansion House.
