James Austin Linscott (1846-1913, Harrison p.327), born in Maine, came to Santa Cruz County after serving in the Civil War. A cousin, John Linscott, arrived in 1868. Linscott went into the lumber business, mainly in the Corralitos area, then retired to farming in the same area.
- Linscott was a Santa Cruz County Supervisor when Santa Cruz County (1896 book) was published. The book includes a group photo of Linscott and the other four supervisors on page 14.
