Lighthouse Field State Beach includes Point Santa Cruz and Lighthouse Field (formerly the Phelan Park estate of James Phelan and his son James D. Phelan). The name commemorates the 1869 lighthouse that once stood on the point, and today's Abbott Memorial Lighthouse.
