Alfred J. Hinds (1845-1921), described in SWC4 as a realtor, had a large house built on Chestnut Street in 1888. The house survives today as the Hinds House B&B. Stan found that the house builder's name, noted as "W. J. Hinds", was "William Johnson Hinds", but I haven't found the source of that info. The biography of Alfred's father Thomas is from the 1950 Riptide Centennial. Alfred's sister married Duncan McPherson.
