Memorial and Biographical History of the Coast Counties of Central California, edited by Henry D. Barrows and Luther A. Ingersoll, was published in 1893 by Lewis Publishing Company of Chicago. Four counties are included: Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Benito, and San Mateo. Although the broad coverage means that each county gets only modest attention, there is material not found in any of the other histories from that period. A number of Santa Cruz County residents were profiled, including Daniel Tuttle, first of the Tuttles in Watsonville. The book can be read/downloaded at Google Books.

Others:

  • p225. J. S. Swank, Watsonville
  • p235. Jacinto Rodriguez (son of Sebastian), born in Watsonville, lived in Monterey
  • p241. David Jacks, Monterey
  • p267. W. H. Crowe, Santa Cruz
  • p268. Charles McIntyre, Santa Cruz County farmer 1852-1865, wife a Buelna
  • p298. Elihu Anthony
