Henry Harris (1821-1868) is noted in Sidewalk Companion as operator of the Franklin House hotel on Main (changed to Front in 1866) Street, which existed from 1859 until it burned in 1887. His wife and widow "Mrs. Sofia [Sloan] Harris" (1819-1896) was listed as owner of Franklin House in 1866, continued to run Franklin House after his death. She is noted as operating a Pacific Avenue boarding house after 1876 (SWC4 p.162). The 1892 Sanborn map names the two adjacent buildings "Harris House". Sophia's brother Sloan, Andrew Jackson was the "ghost of Arana Gulch".
