Calvin Gault (1814-1896; Harrison p231), born in Vermont, came to California in 1849, but brought no gold with him to Santa Cruz County in 1866. Working as a laborer for many years, he invested in real estate. Gault Elementary School, on Seabright Avenue in the area where Gault presumably owned land, is named for him.
