Edward W. Netherington (born 1869 in California, Harrison p.352) came to Santa Cruz in 1890 after working at the Oakland Evening Tribune. He bought a half-interest in the East Santa Cruz Weekly Herald (1889-90 issues on microfilm at SCPL). According to Harrison, Netherington moved the newspaper to downtown Santa Cruz and changed the name to Daily Evening Herald. However, no archived issues have been found.
