John T. McKean (Harrison p.350), born in Ohio, came to Santa Cruz in 1886 and bought a commercial photography business from someone named "Recht". In 1888, McKean sold a half interest to O. V. Ort. Many of the photographic portraits in Harrison were credited to McKean & Ort.
