Johnson, Fred
From Santa Cruz County history wiki
Fred Johnson acquired the old Dodero limestone quarry in 1922 and established a successful business there, turning crushed limestone into various products, including a "grit" additive for chicken feed with the brand name "Kalkar". Johnson, at age 71, was still running the business at the time of the 1953 article. Today's Kalkar Drive begins at High Street, heading north toward (but not reaching) the quarry.
