Lawrence and Houseworth were a pair of San Francisco photographers who documented northern California (and into western Nevada) as it was in the years after 1859. They came to Santa Cruz County at least once, in 1866, and the photographs from that visit are among our most important historical images from the years 1866-1870. Edna Kimbro wrote that the Mission Santa Cruz photos were taken in 1866, in "Construction Chronology..." (assuming L and H only came here once).
