Averon, Joseph P.

Joseph P. Averon (1828-1897), born in France, married Maria Guadalupe Castro Lodge (1841-1920) in 1857. They built a Second Empire-style house (probably in the 1870s) which still stands next to Highway 1 (moved a short way from its original site when the freeway was built in the late 1940s), on the land she inherited from her parents. According to Rowland (p64), Maria's mother Martina was living at the Averon house when she died in 1890.
