Martha Pilkington Wilson (1826-1910), a native of England, became a prominent subdivider/developer of the Eastside neighborhood, beginning with the creation of Ocean View Avenue in 1871. She and her descendents established Wilson Bros. Realty, which remained in business into the 21st century. Martha was the sister of Thomas Pilkington.

Elliott has a drawing of her residence, as it looked before the late-1880s remodel which considerably changed its appearance to what it is today. This earlier iteration can also be seen in an 1876 oil painting.
