Waddell Creek empties into the Pacific farthest to the north of any Santa Cruz County waterway, and is within the Rancho del Oso section of Big Basin Redwoods State Park. The creek was named for former resident William Waddell, and the logging/milling/shipping community that once existed there. Road access to Waddell Creek is via State Highway 1, which crosses the creek near its outlet before leaving the county.
