Lucretia Thurber (1844-1907), a daughter of Benjamin Knight, married Henry Thurber, a native of Rhode Island. Lucretia is shown on the 1889 "Hatch Map" as owner of a large parcel in what is now the Eastside neighborhood of Santa Cruz. Henry Thurber died in 1879, and brother Charles died in 1889, so title to the property may have passed to Henry's widow Lucretia only a short time before the map was prepared. These Thurbers may or may not be related to I. L. Thurber, for whom no burial record was found.
