The Santa Cruz County Governmental Center, completed on the east bank of the San Lorenzo River in 1968, comprised two buildings - a 5-story-plus-basement office building and a one-story-plus-basement courthouse - connected by an enclosed walkway. The complex was built as part of the San Lorenzo Park Project redevelopment (began in 1957).
