Santa Cruz County, Calif. Illustrations, with Historical Sketch was first published in 1879 by W. W. Elliott. An expanded and indexed edition was republished in 1997 by The Museum of Art and History at The McPherson Center. The original "historical sketch" was written by S. H. Willey (general description), and J. Adam (mission and Mexican-era history). This was followed by brief biographies, interspersed with many "Original Drawings by Artists of the Highest Ability".
