Owen Tuttle (1827-1889), born in Ohio, came to California in 1850, and to Santa Cruz County in 1872. He and his brother Daniel were well known in Pajaro Valley/Watsonville affairs, and one or both were members of the Galoot Club. Harrison mentions that Owen's daughter Annabelle married newspaperman William R. Radcliff.

Tuttle's son Iowa H. Tuttle is also profiled in Guinn (p.476) and Martin.
