John and Delphina Costella (1846-1926), natives of Italy, were perhaps the earliest Santa Cruz County-resident members of the Costella family. They established the Garibaldi Hotel on Front Street and, after it burned in the 1894 fire, the Garibaldi Villa Hotel.
