Francisco Arano (1827-1903), born in Spain, came to California from Mexico in 1849, and to the Pajaro Valley in 1856. The revised edition of Elliot spells the name "Aranyo" (n with a tilde), but no source is given for that spelling. Francisco was not related to Arano, Joseph of Aptos.
