Margaret Koch (b.1918) was a Santa Cruz County native who became a local history researcher and writer in the second half of the 20th century and into the 21st. She was one of the founders of the Santa Cruz Historical Society, which existed from the later 1950s into the 1970s. For a time in the 1960s and 70s, she wrote a local history column for the Santa Cruz Sentinel, and authored a number of books that can be found in local libraries. Titles include Later research has found some inaccuracies in her work, but she is one of the most important Santa Cruz County history writers of the 20th century.

Book titles include Santa Cruz County: Parade of the Past (1973); They called it home: Santa Cruz, California (1974); Going to school in Santa Cruz County: a history of the county's public school system (1978); The walk around Santa Cruz book: a look at the city's architectural treasures (1978); The Pasatiempo story (1990).
