'''Arthur W. Bryant''' ([https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/117009048/arthur-wilton-bryant 1858-1919]. Harrison p357), born in Maine, came to Santa Cruz County in 1882 as a schoolteacher. After a year as a district superintendent in Soquel, and another year filling the same position in Corralitos, Bryant left teaching and bought the grocery business of C. Hicks. He later took on partners, including [[Mattison, Frank|Frank Mattison]] (Bryant & Mattison) and a Mr. Collins (Collins & Bryant), who was (according to Harrison) also his father-in-law. 

Bryant and wife are buried in Mountain View, but Find-a-Grave has no info on her parents, or a maiden name. Harrison gives her father's initials as "E. M.", while the Sentinel notice has "C. M."
