Edward Briody (1833-1891) was a native of Ireland. In partnership with George Peckner, he ran a "fruit store and saloon" business as Briody & Peckner. Beginning in 1867, the business was located at the southwest corner of Pacific Avenue and Mission Street, in a building designed by Thomas Beck. On the 1866 Santa Cruz map, that property was shown as belonging to "John Eldon", so it's unclear whether Briody & Peckner owned the property where their building was built the next year.
