The Gharky wharf was originally the wharf built by David Gharky in 1852-52. It extended out into Monterey Bay from Main Street on Beach Hill. In 1865, California Powder Works acquired the wharf, which was demolished in 1882.

  • Note: sources disagree on whether "wharf" should be capitalized. I have found no evidence that capitalized "Wharf" was ever part of an official name for any of the early wharves, or that they even had official names.
