Mack Swain (1876-1935), one of the original Keystone Cops and later a co-star with Charlie Chaplin, took over the 3-year-old Alisky Theatre vaudeville house on Pacific Avenue in 1907, turning it into the Unique Theatre showing silent films. The theater closed in 1936 when the Del Mar opened next door.
