George Wood and his brother Arthur came from S. Dakota to establish the Wood Brothers Lumber and Mill Company in the early 1900s. The company aimed to be a one-stop shop for construction; supplying homesites, design, contracting, and materials. Lila Sweet Martin was the in-house designer for a number of years.
